Been wearing the Bell Eliminator for about three months now and reckon it’s worth talking about. If you’re a cruiser rider who wants full-face protection but hates the claustrophobic fishbowl feeling of most helmets, this one’s worth a look. The viewport is massive — way bigger than your average full-face — and it gives you that open feeling while still wrapping your chin.
Ventilation is solid. There’s a chin vent and top vent that actually work, which puts it ahead of half the helmets I’ve owned. On hot Queensland days you can feel the airflow, especially above 60km/h. The removable liner is a godsend too — after a sweaty summer ride, you can pull it out and chuck it in the wash.
The flat black finish is the way to go on a cruiser. It looks mean without trying too hard. Couple of downsides worth mentioning though — the visor fogs up on cold mornings if you’re stopped at lights, and it’s a touch heavier than some of the competition. Not a dealbreaker, but you notice it on longer rides. For the price, it’s a solid buy. Four out of five.
