Wandering back through town on Day 4 of the rally run, one of the old pubs that caught the eye was the Star Hotel - a beautiful heritage two-storey on High Street, verandah out front and blue umbrellas over the footpath tables.
It sits right opposite the historic Echuca wharf in the heart of the Port precinct, and runs all the way through from High Street to the Murray Esplanade - a bar, a cafe, and a tucked-away courtyard wine bar. We didn’t stop in this time, but it’s one to file away for the next run down.
A reminder that Echuca is full of these grand old buildings, each with a story behind it. We did our eating and drinking a few doors down at the Shamrock Hotel and The Echuca Hotel this trip - the Star’s on the list for next time.
